Funny thing

Funny thing happened last night that I had to share.  About 2 hours after we went to sleep, I woke to the sound of Jazz puking.  I bitched and moaned,  but somehow still managed to throw the covers over and get to her side in less than 2.5 seconds.

Once she was finished, I had to soothe her to get her to go lay back down.  She's very sensitive so it can take awhile to convince her that the world isn't against her.  After she laid down, I went downstairs to get the cleaning supplies and started cleaning up the mess.

When I came back up, I realized that Kris still hadn't even woken up. 20 minutes into this ordeal and the only movement from him was to roll onto my side of the bed!

I'm not sure why I was so surprised - this isn't the first time this has happened.  For years, Max has gotten bad allergy attacks.  When he starts wheezing in the middle of the night, I'm often by his bed before I even know I'm awake.  It's an instinct in me...

And then I realized - God is laughing at me!  He's up there saying, "Oh you want a baby soooo bad, huh?"

my mother, the rock star!

My momma is spending the week at the Biggest Loser Resort in Mailbu, CA this week - working out 6x a day and eating fresh, healthy foods as part of her kick start to the new year.

She has long been an inspiration to me though.  Before I was out of college, she pursued multiple BA and MA degrees (I believe she has over 5 now) and hiked the entire Appalachian Trail.  Since her 50th birthday, she has trained for and completed multiple triathlons (including an Ironman) and marathons.  Here are some pics from her endeavors -

                                       The Ironman Finish

                                      Marine Corp Marathon

Just looking through these pictures inspires me.  It's time to get out there and make something happen!

Since I've now reached my highest weight in years, I've decided I'm going to start the p90x fat burner diet (Kris has agreed to do the same - it never works unless he does it too).  We're going to start the workout soon, but wanted to get a jump start on the diet since the first phase left us both with little energy last time we did it.  We're also TTC so I'm not sure if doing a workout/diet as strenuous as p90x is a good idea right now.  Any thoughts?

According to the book, I can have 1800 calories/day.  It's also broken down by food group servings -

5 proteins
2 dairy
1 fruit
2 veggies
1 fat
1 carb
1 single snack
1/2 protein bar
1 recovery drink
1 condiment

I've used Weight Watchers off and on for over 10 years now but I can't seem to make any difference recently.  I think I need a real jumpstart just like my mom is doing now so I hope this p90x will serve as a budget version (since I already own it and can't possibly afford to go to CA)...Here goes nothing!

Back to Reality

It was a fun holiday week, but now it's back to reality.  I woke up this morning and legitimately did not have a reason to get out of bed....no email to check, calls to return, clients to follow up with...no job.

What to do? I can't sit around the house all day every day, it's time to make a plan!
